Live tutoring in person or via Skype
Gene is available for classes, lectures, and tutoring, in cartooning, storyboards, or animation. If you are in the Bay area, he is available for $75 per hour. If you are anywhere in the world, you can also sign up for live tutoring via Skype for $50 per hour. You can see Gene or you can see his computer screen as he draws or animates. Gene can see you or your drawing with the webcam and help you improve your cartooning, drawing, or animation.
If you are new to cartooning and think you can't draw, Gene makes it easy. He will teach you live what he teaches on his Cartooning Shortcuts, Formulas & Cheap Tricks DVD and more. In one hour, he can get you drawing the cartoon head from every point of view, including three-quarter and looking up and looking down. If you already have your own character, he can show you how to break it down to basic shapes so you can draw it from more angles than just front or side. He can take you all the way to drawing your own comic strip. Along the way, he can even show you how to write a joke from scratch.
If you are new to animation, he can make animating dialogue or walk cycles easy.
If you are new to storyboards, he can show you how break down a script into shots and see how many drawings it will take to visualize it.
